Game Review by Debbie Lester
Game Rating = 4/5 Balls
Fairies, crystal balls, and disappearing objects! These are just a few of wondrous things you’ll find in the third installation of The Dream Chronicles: The Chosen Child. In this adventure game meets hidden object game gamers will be enchanted by not only the story, but the music and graphics as well.
In the third game in The Dream Chronicle series the player is once again Faye, who is looking for both her husband and her missing daughter who has been taken by the Queen of the Fairies. Faye’s memory is damaged and she can’t even remember her name, only her dreams help her to remember her past. The man in the crystal ball seems to be trying to help her on her quest but she isn’t sure whether she should trust him or not with all the mischief the fairies are creating.
This game is definitely out of it’s league as a hidden object game, the adventure style is very appealing. Many of the puzzles are simply finding objects that will allow something to work, like a damaged sewing machine or pieces of a old windmill. The game play is very smooth and not methodical, players have the choice to move at their own speed and in whatever direction they wish to go. The Nexus is a new feature added to the third game in the series, it allows the player to transfer between worlds and is a very interesting feature. My only problem was the game ended way to soon, but inevitably it did set up for a fourth game.
The graphics in this game are truly breathtaking. It is definitely what players would imagine a fairy world to look like. Each scene has been painstakingly drawn to perfection. The items Faye searches for are very relevant to each scene and to the story.
The music is one of the best parts of this game. It gives the player the aura of fantasy. It is something that a player might consider listening to on a CD which is a great feat for a casual game.
Creativity and Innovation
The Dream Chronicles: The Chosen One is a casual gamers version of the 1993 classic, Myst. This game has many features that you could not find in any other hidden object game around. I thought that it was extremely creative and enjoyed playing it very much. This is definitely a game I would recommend to others.
