Gazebo’s, boathouses, cellars and porches! These are just some of the scenes in the new SpinTop game, Escape Rosecliff Island. This hidden object game is full of surprises. While there are a lot of similarities to another SpinTop series, Escape Rosecliff Island is still packs a punch for the casual gamer.
Story
The player becomes a castaway on Rosecliff Island after being shipwrecked during a terrible storm. The player must visit different areas all over the island in search of materials that will help them get off the island, like a full gas can or a compass. In order to do this the player must find items and solve puzzles.

Game Play
This game was somewhat disappointing in it’s game play. It was very similar to another series by SpinTop called Mystery P.I.Some of the scenes had identical items and mini-games. In Escape Rosecliff Island the player does have the opportunity to open up two other modes of game play, by collecting the two “locks” on each level. There are mini games at the end of each level, like match-three games or rotating puzzles. When the player is looking for items the game does not always come right out and say what it’s looking for, and it’s easy to mistake one thing for another. There are also area’s where you have to complete a task like putting eggs in the nest.
Graphics
The graphics in the game were typical of most hidden object games. One of the flaws of the game is that the items do not necessarily go in the area they are found, like scuba gear on the porch or kitchen items in a cave on the shore. Overall the scenes were cluttered and the items were disguised well.

Sound
The music is a sort of eerie haunting melody which goes along with the idea of a shipwreck but also gives the aura of mystery. I liked the music it fit in very well with the storyline.
Creativity and Innovation
I was really disappointed in this game. I was expecting more. I had played the other SpinTop game and noticed the similarities immediately, so it was obvious that the developers were not trying to hide the fact that this was very unoriginal idea. The scenes were very well done, even though I felt they were just recycled and the music was excellent. Overall I was not impressed enough with this game to add it to my collection since I had the other similar game.
