Which came first the chicken or the egg? In the new game Chicken Rush Deluxe, it had to be the chicken. This a retro 80′s style game that is reminiscent of Centipede. Players must use weapons to destroy a fast paced moving force before it reaches the bottom of the screen. There are various power-ups, that can increase speed or change the playing format. This is a casual gamers dream!

Story
The player is Paula the peaceful hen. Her barnyard is being invaded by hen-hunters with pitch forks. Paula must use her weapons to stop the invaders. There are many obstacles to Paula’s quest like, Cacti, rocks, and columns. Paula must either shoot through the obstacles or around them. As Paula shoots the obstacles she can catch power-ups that will enhance her speed, give her more points or change the playing field. There are also various other things that Paula must avoid or get rid of like, steamrollers and little fuzzy people who leave obstacles in their wake. Paula must keep the hen-hunters from reaching the bottom of the screen where they will eat her.
Game Play
Chicken Rush Deluxe is a little slow taking off. The first few levels are relatively easy, but they are building up to more obstacles and scenario’s that the player must navigate. The levels get progressively harder and longer as you go along. It was very fluid and seemed to move at a steady pace. You may think it is too slow but it gets more fast paced as it continues. It was quite addictive for a casual game and children would enjoy this one a lot.

Graphics
The characters looked about like what you would expect. The chicken looked like a chicken, and the weapons looked like weapons. The other characters like the hen-hunters themselves were different and you looked forward to what was going to come out next. The graphics were not 3D but they served their purpose.
Sound
The music was a bit annoying at first but, before long it faded into the background. The sound effects were very good. Each character had it’s own sound effect and you could tell what was coming next by recognizing them.

Creativity and Innovation
This game is take off of Centipede which was at one time very popular. Creativity was perhaps a bit lacking, but the reinvention of the game was overall a success.
Overall Chicken Rush Deluxe was a very addictive casual game. It didn’t take too long to play and it was a very good reinvention of Centipede. I would definitely consider adding it to my casual game collection.
