Story
You’re pretty much cast straight into the deep end of this point and click mystery game but don’t worry, you’ll soon meet the protagonists, medium Rosa and her spirit guide Joey. The duo set out to investigate a set of what initial appear to be fairly regular occurrences, a new film opens to positive acclaim despite it’s unsavory past, offices remaining unoccupied despite their prime location. Are these just normal occurrences? Or are they some how linked to something much deeper and darker?

Game play
The premise is simple, but as with all point and click mystery games you will soon be scratching your head to find the right combination of items to let you advance. At times this game can really immerse you well and leave you desperate to just advance the scene to uncover more of the plot.
At other points however, you’ll be squinting at the screen, hunting for that one out of place pixel, or grinding your teeth as you attempt to combine every item in your inventory in order to progress.

A character switching system is used, introducing a fresh experience on what can sometimes be a stale gaming model. Being a ghost Joey can pass through obstacles but has a limited capacity for interaction. Unless he is talking to someone (or trying to blow a small item across the floor!) then you need Rosa to work on the physical elements of the puzzles.
Graphics
The graphics are fairly outdated and lacklustre. The overall resolution is low and so the scenes and characters lack detail. Being a point and click game it’s not a crippling issue however, as you’re really there for the story and puzzles instead of bi-linear filtered explosions.
Sound
The soundtrack is appropriately haunting and helps to immerse your mind in the plot. It’s something you could happily listen to on or off the game, well produced and musically intelligent. The speech is well recorded (barring a few plosive issues and wave clips) and the voice acting is good.

Creativity And Innovation
The system of swapping between two characters to accomplish different aspects of a task isn’t a new one but it’s still refreshing to see it used in a point and click game. The plot involvement in the paranormal offers a good alternative to pure fantasy games or comedy point and clicks. The plot is more than intriguing enough for me to recommend the game to others.

YOU SHOULD NOT BUY THE BLACKWELL CONVERGENCE IF
- You have little patience
- You are looking for an instant gratification ‘kill the bad guy’ game/want beautifully rendered backdrops and visual effects.
- You haven’t experienced the previous Blackwell games (The Convergence does little job of explaining who Rosa and Joey are)
