Laxius Force loaded with its own user’s manual that explains basic game play, characters, and items. While reading the user’s manual is useful, it is not necessary to read it before playing the game. It does list the characters strengths and weakness which may prove useful in some battles.
Laxius Force starts out with a two character party. Switching between characters can be done if the original party gets damaged too much. Earn experience points after winning fights and completing missions. Fighting is turn-based action. Approach the monsters to fight them or avoid them completely by choosing a different path. Use either direct fighting or magic to dispatch monsters and bosses. Items can give a useful boost, heal characters or be sold for money.

The graphics in Laxius Force fall flat. The typical vain attempt to squeeze a three-dimensional world into two dimensions. The dungeons are a bit simplistic and do not offer much variation between the torches, water, chests, and vases. Although, some of these block the party from further movement. Characters are best viewed from their side. The real detail occurs when the monsters and characters are revealed on the fight screen. However, the monsters and characters are not three-dimensional. Fighting is turned based. The magical effects are the best graphical part of the fighting. Weapon yielding is disappointing with merely a slash to mark contact.
Music follows in the lines of the basic adventure game. Fight sounds are the typical slash and magic effects. At least the music stops when the fight begins. Characters speak in text. That annoying pop-up sound proceeds a conversation.

The play screen in Laxius Force was too big and needed to be resized at the start. Some of the character stats are odd. Examples are the undead character who cannot keep his experience points or the lack of specialization as a con. Fighting is turn based and the monsters get the first shot. Magic is limited. The basic weapons are disappointing and not readily seen even on the fight screen.
Overall, Laxius Force offers nothing unique or ground-breaking in the adventure genre. There is no real challenge and game play gets repetitive. Laxius Force is another spin-off of a once widely popular adventure genre. However, I will not be adding this game to my collection.
