FutureMark Studios released their “revolutionary” tower defense game called Unstoppable Gorg, which pays homage to the classic sci fi alien invasion movies from the 1950s. Consumers can buy and download Unstoppable Gorg from Steam on sale for the PC and Mac computers for $8.99 (10% off the normal $9.99 price) and thru the Apple App store for the IPad for $4.99. Denmark based Pixel Juice released Egg Punch, a 3D egg themed miniature golf puzzle platform game for your IPhone, IPad, and IPod Touch for free with in-app purchases. In a Egg Punch, a sneaky rabbit stole the feathers from the bird, the hero character. What’s with everyone attacking the birds? Anyway the game player must recover those feathers by aiming the egg (as opposed to the golf) at the feathers situated on each hole of the golf course. Pixel Juice designed each hole with obstacles like the ones you would find on a real world miniature golf course. You can earn coins or buy them through the in-app purchase system. Who’s “faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound”? That’s right Warner Bros, DC Comics have released Superman for the iOS platform in partnership with Chillingo and Tiger Games priced at $0.99. The IPad HD version costs $2.99. The iOS version of Superman offers consumers action packed side scrolling fun. We were pleasantly surprised. We wonder if Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the creators of Superman, would approve.

This iOS version of Superman opens with Lux Luther announcing his company’s launch of satellite designed to prevent global climate calamity. Obviously Superman smells more of a Lux Luther created calamity. He investigates and discovers a force field surrounds Lex Luther’s satellite. Without walking you through whole plot the game does offer $0.99 worth of fun.
Like a few of the newest iOS games they built control buttons right into the screen with the directional button on the left and the action buttons on the right. You have to fly and fire the heat ray at moving targets which takes some practice. So far we have enjoyed the IPHone version of Superman after playing the first four levels. We will report our progress throughout the week.
Australia based Black Lab Games released a Star Hammer Tactics, combat based strategy game for the IPad in a free to play model. Consumers can play the first four campaigns for free and then pay $2.99 within the game to access 11 additional campaigns and to get access medium and large skirmish modes. Dingo Games released one of our favorite indie games Tasty Planet 2 Back for Seconds on the iOS platform for a special introductory price of $0.99. We gave Tasty Planet 2 Back for Seconds PC version a 5 out of 5 rating. You can read the review here. The game player must direct the lovable little ball of goo to items he must eat to grow. The items include small little balls, test tubes, batteries, frogs and even cuddly mice. In the PC version of the game, the player uses the mouse or the arrow keys to guide the goo ball around the screen to his snacks. In the iOS version of Tasty Planet 2 the players’s device – the IPhone or IPad inherits the mouse/arrow keys’ role requiring the user to tilt the IPhone or IPad to move the goo ball so he can eat things required to grow.

8 Bit Grenade released Snap Trap for the iPhone 3 GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, 3rd & 4th generation iPod Touch priced at $2.99. 8 Bit Grenade says Snap Trap uses Apple’s touch screen technology, in an unique and intuitive way. We aren’t sure about that but the game looks like a souped version of the classic game Snake and consumers think twice about paying $2.99 for Snap Trap. (more…)
Hidden Variable Studios released Bag It!, a new grocery bagging puzzle mobile game, on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices. Bag It, offers 50 levels of puzzles and challenges. The game player must bag virtual grocery items like Eggs, milk, potato ships ideally without breaking them. You are able to re-arrange items in the bag, even turning items right side up. I wonder if professional grocery store baggers would consistently score higher than the non bagging human. Bag It includes some elements from Tetris but it’s a little more involved. Bag It costs $0.99 on the iOS platform and $1.99 on the Android platform. Babes save the world! Babes save the World! Guess what happens in the iOS game Babes Vs Robots? In Babes vs Robots, the Babes, dressed like women from Wonder Woman’s island, launch weapons at invading robots. The game play does resemble Angry Birds but rather than launching birds you shoot weapons like rockets, Molotov cocktails and hand grenades. Be aware the site Awomo presents information in German without an option for English. The first 60 minutes of the game will be made available to everyone free of charge. If gamers buy the game, they can resume the game exactly where they left off when the test period came to an end. They are offering the game with a 75% discount to consumers. Normally Naval Warfare costs 9.99 Euros.
