Wolfire Games released a video walking prospective gamers through the animation produced for their downloadable game Overgrowth, sequel to Lugaru. In Lugaru, the hero character Turner, is an anthropomorphic rebel bunny rabbit with impressive combat skills. He quests to find those responsible for slaughtering his village, he uncovers a far-reaching conspiracy involving the corrupt leaders of the rabbit republic and the starving wolves from a nearby den. Turner takes it upon himself to fight against their plot and save his fellow rabbits from slavery.
Wolfire Games wouldn’t disclose much about Overgrowth’s plot but shared this “Overgrowth will be inheriting the same brutal malthusian and darwinistic world that encompassed Lugaru. The main character is probably going to be Turner again. Turner is essentially a ninja rabbit with a troubled past. In Lugaru, he was betrayed by his friends as his family was slain in an elaborate plot to enslave the rabbits. Turner managed to thwart the plot but only by doing a lot of killing.”

Tzai Entertainment released the beta of Shmusicup (we don’t know how to pronounce the name either) which they describe as “a hybrid of a rhythm/music game and a shoot’em up. A vertical scrolling shooter where your mp3 generates the enemy’s bullet patter.” Shmusicup seems to be an abbreviation for “Shoot Music Up”. We think Shmusicup from Tzai Entertainment offers players who love music an interesting concept for a downloadable game. Tzai Entertainment offers the beta in an online format with required registration rather than as a downloadable. Tzai Entertainment does say they will offer the final version of Shmusicup as a downloadable.
You can access the online beta of Shmusicup at their web site url:

The downloadable game regular non sales prices range from $29.95 to $6.99. We couldn’t find the price for the Cinderella Game. Game Factory Games touch many genres from action, strategy, simulation and kids. You do have to buy the game before you download them. They don’t offer downloadable try before you buy games. We guess that’s a function of Gamers Gate and not necessarily a business decision by Game Factory Interactive. (more…)
Murudai, an independent game developer, have announced their plans to release Solar 2 for the PC in or around June
2011. They plan to sell Solar 2 for $10 for download from Steam and other distribution partners. Murudai released the original Solar for Bill Gates favorite platform, (not the Wii), Xbox Live Indie Games.
Murudai describe the game as “an open-world, sandbox game where you play as asteroids, planets and stars in an infinite universe. The game will feature many missions all activated and played during the extensive sandbox mode. You can grow your system, destroy other systems, gather objects to become more powerful, grow and nurture the life growing in your system or just use the planets as wrecking balls. There are many ways to tackle the missions, if something isn’t working take a step back and think again. Other features include hidden missions, game modifying physics options, secrets to discover and more.”
The game will feature 30 to 40 minutes of original music from JP Neufeld who created the Sound track for the first Solar game.
Frogames, an indie game developer, have joined the pay what you want business model faction for their downloadable racing game called MiniOne Racing. MiniOne Racing offers players a 3D racing and we would say balancing game. The game player doesn’t simply race around a track which you will discover on the first level. MiniOne Racing’s opening level requires the game player to race and balance along a narrow wooden dock above water. We fell off 6 times in the first 2 minutes of track. Consumers can download Minione Racing for their PC or Mac and they get to pay what they want.
