Re-Logic Released their downloadable platform adventure game Terraria for $9.99 on Steam. The Terraria game player can make weapons, fight off many types of bad guys, explore beneath the earth and even create elements of your own world. Terraria looks very interesting challenging and fun. Swing Swing Submarine have released their first commercial game on the XBox Live Game Channel today. Swing Swing Submarine describes Blocks That Matter “as a puzzle/platformer in which a tiny driller robot travels underground in order to save its creators, Alexey and Markus, kidnapped by someone who wants to steal their work.” Blocks That Matter costs 240Mspoints. Swing Swing Submarine plans to release Blocks That Matter for the PC, Mac and Linux in May or June 2011.
2DEngine released the downloadable beta of 8 Bit Commando described as “a run and gun platformer with fast-paced action, a rocking soundtrack, local multiplayer and explosions. ” 2DEngines has employed classic graphics combined with unique action and an interesting sound track for the downloadable platform 8 Bit Commando game. Pathea Games released Drains, a downloadable platform game for the PC. Consumers can download a trial version of Drains or buy Drains for 14.99 from Direct to Drive. In Drains, a man known as the King of the Seas has blocked six “drains” in the worlds ocean, causing the water to flood over all the land. The hero has to unplug the drains by combating over 20 types of enemies. Drains offers 15 to 20 hours of game play. We installed Drains and couldn’t get past the opening screen asking us to start a new game or continue an existing game. (more…)
AlienTrap, a Canadian based independent game developer, released Capsized, a downloadable platform game for sale $9.99 on Steam. In Capsized, astronauts have crash landed on an alien planet and the game player must navigate through obstacles and alien attacks to rescue fellow astronauts and find their way home. We have included a link to an interview with the Alientrap team above. Alientrap tells the Capsized story using graphics, images and comic book like frames rather than employing text.
