Puzzle Bots Game Review by Phyllis G.
Game Rating = 4.5/5

This is an adventurous goofy but charming video game of clever puzzles. An outstanding presentation in an adorable cartoon style setting. Fantastic voice acting with of course adorable mechanical companions. Human and robotic alike. More pro’s to purchasing then cons.

<a href="http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/mayoco/project/media/PuzzleBotsDemo_Setup.exe"onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/puzzlebotsdl1'); ">Download Free Game Trial
<a href="https://www.plimus.com/jsp/buynow.jsp?contractId=2814064&referrer=charliegrace"onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/puzzlebotsbuy1'); ">Buy The Game Now $14.95

There is Dr. Hugo’s Factory for making cute little mechanical companions of all sorts. Plus it is packed with plenty of humor. You will get to control five robots as they search the factory for clues as to how to open a mysterious metal box found. There are flamethrowers with deviously clever puzzles.Creativity with innovation exudes from this game. The sounds are so pleasing to your ears and nothing about them is annoying. Once or twice while I was playing the sound skipped. It is not very obvious and can be dismissed.

This video game will keep you on your toes and in amazement over the little mechanical companions. There is a goofy cast of characters, which are both robotic and human. Splashed in the game are hilarious nerd references with a silly dialog that actually makes it endearing.

Download Free Game Trial

Each robot has something to bring to the table. Knowing which one to use and what is needed will make you a pro at moving ahead. The puzzles are not that difficult however, they are most challenging. Close attention must be paid to your surroundings in order to know what you have at your disposal and what you will need to proceed. Clues and hints are given to keep you heading in the proper direction. They are subtle and you need to be aware. Excellent game but you can have frantic moments.

Overall on visual, audio and plots the rating for this video game is a 4.5 out of 5 in all categories. When they say great things come in small packages Puzzle Bots is it. Massive charm is delivered in a cartoon style delightful. A few technical problems do occur but can easily be ignored. At times the music can skip and puzzles can be blurred but do clear up. They are not very obvious and easily can be dismissed as the game is extremely entertaining. You may not even notice it. When I played this game I paid close attention to every aspect.

<a href="http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/mayoco/project/media/PuzzleBotsDemo_Setup.exe"onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/puzzlebotsdl2'); ">Download Free Game Trial

Wonderful charming challenges are what this game has to offer its players. Undeniable and unique charm and a must have in your collection. Great entertainment and it will keep you sharp and on your toes. What more can you ask for in a videogame. Complete enjoyment to daunt you for hours on end. Purchasing this video is a must as you would not want to miss the colorful and adorable pieces to this amazing puzzle.

If you are not sure go and download a free trial and see for yourself first hand before going to the store to purchase. You will agree with rating this in every category a 4.5 out of 5. Enjoy.

Game Rating = 5/5

Game Review Summary: Flotilla is fun and quirky, like a fast play version of Sid Meier’s Pirates, but in space.

Three Reasons to buy Flotilla

- Reason #1: Fun, easy to learn
- Reason # 2: Great value for ten Dollars
- Reason # 3: Re-playability

Three Reasons to avoid buying Flotilla

- Reason #1: Not so great graphics.
- Reason #2: “Careers” are short.
- Reason # 3: No story to follow

Full Game Review:

Remember when strategy games were fun and compelling without requiring years of your life. Or worse, when they degenerate into annoying click-fests, when the player wins by merely being able to drag and drop faster than the AI. Flotilla by independent game developer, Blendo easily avoids both these pitfalls.

In Flotilla, you are the Captain of a small fleet of space ships. Starting with two missile destroyers, you seek adventures in space. Each planet explored brings opportunities for trade, growing the fleet, getting new personnel and other alien encounters or fighting for your life. The ‘story’ is advanced through a series of text boxed decision points where you must make a choice. It is in these snips of dialog that the games shows much of its odd charm as the player interacts with Panda bear pilots, aggressive space pirate chickens, bellicose rhino bounty hunters and other strange “aliens”. This way of advancing you through the game’s action reminded me a lot of the old “Choose Your Own Adventure” books from the 70s and 80s. In that each decision changes your fate in the game.

While the exploration and adventuring is fun, it is the combat mode that is the heart of the game. When you encounter a hostile force, the game mode changes into a 3-dimensional (3D) battle space. The combat is simultaneous-turned based, which means that you and your opponent make decisions while the play is paused, but the combat is resolved simultaneously.

<a href="http://www.blendogames.com/files/FlotillaDemoSetup.exe"onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/flotilladl2'); ">Download Free Game Trial
<a href="https://secure.bmtmicro.com/servlets/Orders.ShoppingCart?CID=5860&PRODUCTID=58600000"onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/flotillabuy2'); ">Buy The Game Now $10.00

Ships armor is weakest on the bottom and rear. The fleet commanders maneuver their ships to achieve bottom or rear shots on the enemy ships to inflict real damage. The combat continues until one side or the other is totally destroyed. The combat is easy to learn, but hard to master, as you must learn the capabilities of your own ships as well as the enemies. Each class of ship has its own individual strengths and weaknesses. Further, the AI is no pushover and you can lose rapidly if you don’t fight well.

Each time the game is replayed the game’s universe is randomized, which means no two “careers” are ever the same, giving Flotilla lots of re-playability.

So, if you like PC strategy games that are fun and interesting; Flotilla is a beautiful gem of a game, you should not missed.

Game Rating = 4/5

In recent times, the Internet has become awash with puzzle games designed to captivate their audience for short periods of intoxicating fun. Mole Control, designed by Remode Studios, is a perfect example of a generic, yet very fun, addition to the PC puzzle game family.

Download Free Game Trial
Buy The Game Now

The game play is basically a rebooted and refined form of the classic Minesweeper puzzle game. The player is tasked with piloting a craft through gardens, lawns and fields to find exploding moles hidden beneath the soil. Like Minesweeper, the lawns are divided into grids (the actual grid lines can be toggled on and off creating a more seamless in game experience) and the player can use left clicks to move one spot at a time to reveal the number of exploding moles adjacent to the current position. A right click of the mouse will dig up a grid spot removing a mole if one is there. Damage is inflicted upon the player when they either: move to a spot occupied by a mole, or dig up a spot that does not contain a hidden mole.

Overall, the game play is fun but not very difficult. I don’t play many puzzle games but I had no problem breezing through the first few levels without a scratch. The developers made the puzzles fun and exciting for the casual gamer but the tricks and traps of Mole Control will fail miserably against the seasoned gamer. The decision to incorporate a story mode to the game is also a welcome change to the puzzle game norm and further solidifies the titles excellence in the eyes of a casual gamer. With a story, the player no longer needs to be enticed only by the challenge of the puzzle allowing the game to attract an audience of less hardcore gamers. Also incorporated through the story are fun nuggets, like golden moles, which further distance Mole Control from the usual monotony of puzzles and levels seen in traditional puzzle games.

The graphics in “Mole Control” are of very high quality for the genre. They feature a campy cartoon style but it fits the overall style of the game (it is about moles after all). The game also runs smoothly, does not lag and is never choppy. The single track accompaniment music is the only disappointment in an otherwise very solid gaming experience. The music is incredibly annoying to the point where I would have been happier hearing nails on a chalkboard by the end of the game.

Overall Mole Control is a great puzzle game for the casual gamer, who rarely plays video games. It is sharp, fresh and a great time to play. However, for those who are used to playing more difficult games, Mole Control will surely disappoint.

Buy: Fun game play, innovative story, and seamless quality graphics

Skip: Annoying soundtrack, easy difficulty, very similar to Minesweeper

Game Rating = 3/5 Balls

WildHollow, by Karjasoft is a new take on empire building. The story is a mix of bizarre and contrived, but the dialogue indicates that the game’s creators are fully aware of this. The game is littered with tongue in cheek humor. The idea is that the hero returns to his or her home town to find that the family farm has been destroyed, and that mom and dad are no where to be found. This hero needs to simultaneously rebuild the farm to its former glory, and find and possibly rescue the parents.

GAMEPLAY
For the most part, Wild Hollow is a point and click game. There is a world map, with plenty of locations, and plenty more which can be unlocked. Within each of these locations, there is a still frame of the town, farm, orchard, or whatever the location is. At these locations, there are people and buildings to click on, each of which starts up a conversation. The player is given plenty of options for what to say or ask the people of the towns. Through these conversations, the hero is given quests to undertake, each of which is rewarded with money or items. There are a few other things that can be done at each of these locations. Items are sometimes hidden in the scenery. Some of these are quest items. Others are statues which the hero keeps as part of the collection. Lastly, there are a few mini-games which can be played at some of these locations. These are incredibly simple, and a bit stupid, but at least they are a change of pace from the monotony of point and click.

All of these actions ultimately lead to the acquisition of money. This money can be used to buy things, but most importantly, to help rebuild the family farm. Once the first repairs have been made, the hero can start to keep animals, feed them, raise them, and sell them.

GRAPHICS
While most graphics in Wild Hollow are still images, they do have a polished look. The design for the characters are very creative, albeit a tad on the intentionally cheesy side.

AUDIO
The music changes by location, and while the sound designers tried to put a bit of a modern twist on it, the game still sounds like every other medieval game.

CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
Wild Hollow tried a few new things, and to some degree they worked. But all in all, this was a pretty unoriginal game.

THREE REASONS TO BUY
-The game is loaded with humor.
-The character designs are quite colorful.
-There are plenty of things to do.

THREE REASONS NOT TO BUY
-$19.99 is a bit much for a point and click game.
-The game is mostly devoid of action.
-The game play can be monotonous.

OVERALL
Wild Hollow is an average gaming experience, but just is not worth the time and money. It receives a 3/5.

27. Grand Theft Auto III

Developed by Rockstar Games in 2001, GTA III is a sarcastic romp around the seedy underbelly of Liberal City. Say what you like about the penchant for hooligan violence, but GTA III is steeped in clipping humour. Available on PS2, PC, and XBox, the GTA series adds sardonic entertainment to sandbox gaming.

26. Feel the Magic XY/XX

Developer: Sonic Team. Publisher: Sega. Year Published: November 16, 2004. Platform: NintendoDS
Feel The Magic is a unique story following a young man in his attempts to impress a woman. And what better way to do that then by making people puke up goldfish and riding unicycles across skyscrapers!

25. Eets

Klei Entertainment, 2006 (Windows, XBox Live)

A riotous 2D puzzle game in which you can alter the emotional state of a little bunny creature by firing food at it to guide it to a safe exit, Lemmings-style. Huge amusement can be derived from annoying the little creature by repeatedly hitting him with objects.

24. Kitten Cannon Online Freeware

BurstStudio.com 2005, addictinggames.com
Perhaps only for the sadistic, Kitten Cannon is pretty self-explanatory: Players fire a kitten out of a cannon, and see how far it flies and bounces. While it loses its novelty after a hundred tries or so, the first time you realize that hitting explosives makes the cat projectile travel farther is pure cruelty gold.

23. We Love Katamari

Refreshingly psychedelic, the Katamari Damacy series is epic in its chaotic ridiculousness. Released in 2005 by Namco for the PS2,this game is the story behind our favourite fop, the King of All Cosmos. Situational humour comes a long way, if you can get past the rave-like absurdity, this game is worth all the giggles.

22. Super Mario RPG

Legend of the Seven Stars
Developer: Square. Publisher: Nintendo. Year Published: March 9, 1996. Platform: Super Nintendo, Wii virtual Console.
What makes this game stand out, is that it was the first Mario game where he just isn’t jumping over goombas and kicking Koopa shells. The addition of dialog (very funny dialog) adds a lot of charm to the game, even though many of the funny moments come from our mute hero.

21. Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy!

Alasdair Beckett, 2007 (Windows)

http://nelly.johnsendesign.info/

In which our heroine meets a dead pirate who urges her to save endangered seabirds. A lot more fun than it sounds, another witty adventure game in the Monkey Island mold, even down to including pirates!

20. Dodge ‘Em Atari 2600

Atari 1978, http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/a2600/data/584686.html
Best appreciated at 3 a.m. after chugging a few caffeinated beverages, Dodge ‘Em is a two-player contest that pits two racing cars in a laned, circular track with goals to grab. So, basically, it’s like Pac-Man with head-on collisions. Hilarious!

19. Dead Rising

Developer: Capcom Production Studio 1. Publisher: Capcom. Year Published: August 8, 2006. Platform: XBox360

Frank West is a photo Journalist who never fails at getting the perfect shot. Sometimes that shot involves throwing pies, or putting silly masks on, or suplexing the undead purseing him. In Dead Rising there are thousands of hilarious ways to destroy your undead attackers.

YetiSports Screenshot

18. Yetisports

Chris Hilgert, 2004 (web)

Games of few words, but huge laughs, as an athletic Yeti batters and abuses penguins in a variety of ways, to their apparent delight. Smack them with a baseball bat in the original, or with a flamingo acting as a gold club in Flamingo Drive, or just launch them into the air to be slapped around with seals. Simple, addictive, frustrating fun.
