Hoard, a downloadable action game from Big Sandwich Games becomes available today on Steam for both the PC and Mac for $9.99. In Hoard, a dragon plays the hero role who gets to pursue every day regular dragon activities like kidnapping princesses, burning villages, collecting treasures and toasting knights over fire pits although we assume the dragon doesn’t need lighter fluid. Hoard offers both single and multi-player co-op and competitive game play. Paradox Interactive and Nitro Games today released the first gameplay footage for their RTS Pirates of Black Cove coming out this spring in a downloadable format for the PC. The game takes place during the 16th century which was apparently the hey day for the pirating industry.

You play a Japanese commander who must build an army of previously alive but currently dead Samurai warriors to defeat the enemy. This turn based strategy game looks interesting. Platforms, price and time to be determined.

According to the Positech, the creator of this downloadable strategy game, the four new worlds make the game “playable” as opposed to impossibly hard and you may now consider a career as a supreme galactic ruler ship. Phantasm Game Studios released their downloadable PC Tank (think boom boom) oriented Strategy Game called Armoured and Dangerous for $9.97. Armoured and Dangerous offers three modes of game play:
1. Capture The Flag, during which the player must destroy enemy oil rigs before the enemy
destroys to the player’s.
2. Death Match, during which the player must crush all enemy tanks.
3. Search and Destroy, as the name suggests this mode requires the player to ‘search and destroy’

Blendo Games released Atom Zombie Smasher, an interesting downloadable tower defense style game available on Windows, Linux and the Mac for $15 from the Blendo Games’ site. The game player must rescue civilians from the zombies nicknamed zed using mercenary armies, artillery, controlled demolitions and other tools. Up to three players may play Atom Zombie Smasher together. We will publish a full review in a few weeks. Blendo Games uses a cool sound track, sound effects and visuals, complementing the game nicely. (more…)
Divo Games has released a new strategy time management game containing hidden object mini games called Jack of All Tribes. Users download the game to their pcs and play as Jack, who finds himself mysteriously transported back to a primitive time after going on an amusement park trail car ride. Dreamspike Studios released a new turn based strategy game called Bronze which has the player conquering lands in the ancient world’s Bronze Age. The game developers have injected 12 ancient civilizations into the game: Akkadians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Elamites, Ebla, Egyptians, Gutians, Hittites, Kassites, Mitanni, Nomads, and Sumerians. Players can build farms, armies, bridges, mining towns and more. The game costs $29.95 but its on sale for $26.95 through January 14th and they offer a playable demo. Dekagames has released a new tower defense downloadable game called Defence of the Fortress costs $9.99 which you can download here. We played the first two levels and found this downloadable tower defense game challenging and polished.
Positech, The King of all Indie game developers and publisher of Gratuitous Space Battles released a new expansion pack called Nomads, a new race and the oldest species in the universe.
