Sometimes game developers use programming languages like java or c++ and sometimes they use clay. What? Clay? As in the soft malleable stuff used to make ceramics? Yes that clay. Doesn’t the clay get stuck in the device? How many game developers use clay to create their games? One as far we know. A company called Fat Pebble just released Clay Jam, an extremely unique free puzzle arcade game made entirely of clay although we are sure they had to use some programming language to make the game work on mobile devices.
The game takes place in a land named Clay Jam where monsters live happily ever after until some characters named the Bully Beasts destroyed Clay Jam which lay dormant for hundreds of years. A stranger shows up vowing to rebuild the land but he needs clay for their task. He dispatched a blue pebble to collect and recover clay. You guide the pebble down the hill by drawing groves in the clay land towards the little creatures you must squash for their clay. You must flick the pebble at the Bully Beast to send him flying to earn more points.
Clay Jam offers one of the most unique game play experiences we have seen in a number of years. Consumers can play Clay Jam on either their IPhone, IPads or Android devices.
A new game called Cross the Line presents an interesting challenge for us because we can’t decide if the folks behind this game Chilibite Games(the publisher) and Codi Games (The creator) are lazy or brilliant. Consumers can play this puzzle game on both the iOS and Android platforms for $1.99.
Cross The Line offers a deceptively simple physics puzzle game which takes place on a blackboard. You must direct a ball over a line with one single swipe, unlike physics puzzlers like Angry Birds where you may get three or four chances to destroy the target.
You can bounce the ball off objects like blocks and the wall while aiming for power-up earning stars. To be clear you aren’t using the slingshot like mechanic in many games like Angry Birds. You are simply flinging the ball once. The puzzles get extremely difficult for those of you who get lost in your showers.
In video games you can make any object into a evil villain who attacks the earth. In Blockdozer, a new game from Lemony Lobster Labs, blocks attacking from the sky play the bad guy role.a new game You must bulldoze blocks off the screen as the blocks fall. (more…)
